Description: The Recreation Coordinator for Aquatics is responsible for all aspects of the aquatics complex, including personnel management, safety, risk management, pump room operations, programming, cleanliness and presentation of the aquatics facility. The aquatics facility includes a lap pool, leisure pool, 2 hot tubs, sauna and steam room. This is a highly responsible position required a strong leader, attention to detail, customer service orientation, and a focus on the highest level of aquatics risk management. This position supervises an Aquatics Supervisor, 2 Head Lifeguards, 5-10 WSI's, and approximately 40 lifeguards. This position works under the direct supervision of the Recreation Center Manager; however, the incumbent is required to exercise independent judgment and decision-making. The incumbent is also expected to follow and model the Town's Values and Philosophies, Employee Guidelines, and the Recreation Department's Vision, Mission and Values.
Requirements: The position requires: To qualify for this position the candidate or employee must pass a criminal background check as described in the Recreation Department Criminal History Background Check & Confidentiality Policy. BA/BS degree in Recreation or other related field. Two (2) years minimum direct work experience required in aquatics facility management. This includes experience with learn to swim programs, pump room operations, safety, risk management, and staff training and development. Two (2) years direct employee supervision required. Computer proficiency required. Lifeguard certification required. CPO/AFO must be obtained within 6 months of hire. WSI, lifeguard instructor certification preferred. Community CPR, first aid and AED training required. CPR, first aid, AED instructor certification preferred. Preventing disease transmission (PDT) required within 60 days of hire. Valid Colorado Drivers license required within one month of employment. Applicants need to be able to work a flexible schedule that may include weekdays, weekends, holidays, early mornings and evening hours.
